Omar Khouri was born in 1948 in Pirajuí, State of São Paulo, Brazil. He graduated from the University of São Paulo (USP) with a degree in History. For several years, he taught in the public schools of São Paulo. He has a Master’s and a Doctor’s degree from the Pontifical University of São Paulo in "Communication and Semiology," and he teaches in the following colleges: Arts Institute of UNESP and FACOM-FAAP. As a inter-semiotic poet, he has published his work in collective publications (magazines and anthologies): ARTÉRIA 1 (1975), ARTÉRIA 2 (1976), ARTÉRIA 4 (1980), ARTÉRIA 5 (1991), ARTÉRIA 6 (1992), ZERO À ESQUERDA (1981), QORPO ESTRANHO 1 (1976), QORPO ESTRANHO 2 (1976), MUDA (1977), CASPA 2 (1978), KATALOKI (ALMANAK 81), ATLAS (ALMANAK 88) and others. He has participated in many shows of visual poetry, in Brazil and abroad. He is also promoter of events, editor (co-founder of Nomuque Edições), printer and poetry scholar, especially poetry written in Portuguese. He organized several anthologies. He currently is developing an experimental project in prose. He lives and works in São Paulo.
