Lena Bergstein is an artist who studied in Rio de Janeiro at the School of Visual Arts and the Museum of Modern Art. Her first solo exhibition was at Macunaíma Gallery in 1980. She participated in the most important national and international printmaking biennials. She has shown prints and paintings at the Petite Gallery, paintings at the Candido Mendes Gallery, and built her installation "Tenda" at the Museum of Modern Art of Rio. Bergstein has exhibited paintings and the originals from her book "Enlouquecer o Subjéctil" at the Paço Imperial. She has also exhibited at the Segno Grafico Gallery, Venice; Centro Internazionale di Grafica, Venice; Wittockiana Library, Brussels; and Debret Gallery, Paris. She lived in Paris for two years, where she participated in the seminars of Jacques Derrida, including "Questions of Responsibility" and "Hospitality and Hostility." She won the Jabuti Award for the best editorial production of 1999 for her book with Jacques Derrida, "Enlouquecer o Subjéctil."
