Grima
Grimaldi is a 45-year-old art director and video maker, born in Salvador, Bahia,
Brazil. He has worked with video art since 1988. In a partnership with Walter
Silveira, he produced "II Movimento de Abertura da Sinfonia Panamérica,"
an electronic poem that revisits the work of José Agripino de Paula,
and "Xilo VT or Elogio à Xilo," video art based on a poem written
by Haroldo de Campos for Maria Bonomis xylograph "Portinari Reader"
(Portinai Reader). The video shows unprecedented book illustrations by Portinari.
Another of his works, "Arte Cidade 3," is a video documentary of the
event by the same name broadcast by Canal 21. Since 1997, he has produced the
video "Ofício e Silêncio," which shows the work of painter
Gil Vicente from Pernambuco. In 2001, he produced and directed three videos:
"Uma Conversa Com Blackberry," (A Conversation with Blackberry) "Retrovisão
and Remix" (Retrovision and Remix) and "Retrovisão Pussyclip,"
(Pussyclip Retrovision) based on visual poems by Lenora de Barros.
