1
- What does Visual Poetry mean to you?
The means of composing a predominantly visual message may or may not be reminiscent
of strategies used in artistic mediums such as painting, writing, photography,
music and other avenues of expressive communication.
2 - Who were and/or are your sources of inspiration, your
models (either poets or artistic movements) in this artistic medium?
Artistic echoes are myriad. From Malevich and Pollock to Andy Warhol; from Mira
Schendel, Regina Silveira and Leonilson.
3 - Why did you choose to create, or why do you enjoy
creating, Visual Poetry as one of your artistic expressions?
My work was always extremely visual in its own right. Borrowings from other
artistic mediums (journalism, photography, painting) were, nonetheless, always
present in my compositions. To express the fullness of an idea, there should
be no restrictions with regard to means.
4 - When did you first adopt Visual Poetry as a mode of
expression?
My first visual-poetic compositions coincided with my tenure as a college student,
which began in 1987. During that same period, I established contact with the
journal, "Artéria" (Nomuque Edition), which stimulated my interest
in the visual-poetic medium.
