Avelino de Araujo was born in 1953 in Patu, State of Rio Grande do Norte. He is a medical doctor and lives in Natal. He has been writing visual poetry and experimental poetry since 1979. His work has been published in about 200 magazines, newspapers and anthologies, across every continent, and has also been published on dozens of Internet sites. He has edited and published, among others, the following magazines: Poezine (1993-1995); Scan-Bau (1994-); Limite (1999-2000). He is the author of the books: "Antropoemas" (Anthro-Poems, 1980); "Oficina Do Autor" (Author’s Workshop, 1985); "Livro De Sonetos" (Book of Sonnets, 1993); and "Olho Nu" (Naked Eye, 1995).
